Many Scottish beauty spots have remained unchanged in the last 200 years. An enthusiast. Jo Cound, travelled all over Scotland taking photographs of the 48 beauty spots drawn for Scotia Depicta in 1804. Ms Cound discovered that many of the tourist attractiions remained fairly unchanged. In the Scottish Borders, Melrose Abbey, pictured below, was structurally identical, the minor change being some tree clearing.
