Scengland: Border Country

Welcome to my blog, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

In the Spring I moved from Stirling in central Scotland to Berwick upon Tweed, three miles south of the border in Northumberland in the north of England. It is quite strange because the River Tweed demarcates the Anglo Scottish border for a fair section. Then as the border goes east towards Berwick upon Tweed, its snakes north, leaving Berwick in England.  Berwick has been part of Scotland during some periods in history. Yet Berwick still has a Scottish postcode.

My name for the area around Berwick upon Tweed is Scengland because I think of it as a fusion of England and Scotland. However even if the border were to be the River Tweed, I would still be living in England as I live in Tweedmouth, a part of Berwick just south of the Tweed!

Do you live near a border, who does it affect you?
