How Green is Your Travel?

I think that “green” travel is on the increase. However I think it is all a bit of pretence if you fly to your destination. Unless you have the time and patience to reach your destination by a more green method eg train then you will defintely leave a carbon footprint.
However in business you could argue that you have to jump on any bandwagon and capitalise on current trends. If your customer eases their conscience by buying into the responsbile travel line and you make a profit, who really cares?
How do you feel about this? Are you kidding yourself that you are a “green” traveller? Do you make a real effort when choosing your holiday to reduce the environment effect? Are you a bit like me and hoping that initiviatives such as towing plans to their starting position and more efficient planes will reduce the problem?






First Choice have decided to ditch a scheme encouraging passengers to pay £1 towards carbon offsetting. They blame this on the doubling of Air Passenger Duty and believe any more additional costs would be unpopular with customers. I think this is a pity as with a scheme like this the money raised in earmarked for that specific purpose.
East Midlands Airport has announced that they aim to be carbon neutral in their ground operations by 2012.
