100% online check for Ryanair Flight

Ryanair is the first airline to have 100% of passenger check in online for its Dublin to Santa flight on 2/12/06. So no qeues at that check in desk.
Is this the way to go? If they could take the next step and allocate you a seat when you check in online then it would also save the undignified pushing and shoving at the boarding gate!
