Festive season holidays

I must admit I am one of these people who think that the whole Christmas commercialism has just gone too far. I saw Christmas decorations outside a shopping centre in Edinburgh from the beginning of November. I personally think it is ridiculous. In the UK it is not a good time of year to have 2 weeks holiday as the days are at their shortest and it is usually dull, dark, wet and windy. Perish the thought that you might like to go away to sunnier climes on holiday, you will have to have deep pockets as the price of holidays shoots up. However this is not detering 2.5 million UK citizens from taking a holiday abroad over the festive season. According to the survey by Halifax Travel Insurance, the top reason was to get away from “festive mania” and the second to escape the UK weather.
I would love to go away somewhere sunny preferably where they had never heard of Christmas but I am not prepared to pay the inflated price.
