Are blogs good for small business?

Written by Karen Bryan

I read an article in a business lifestyle magazine extoling the virtues of blogging. Even Bill Gates is saying blogging the way forward for business.. He’s talking about Microsoft. a giant company, does this still hold good for a small independent business?

I have been sending out (almost) monthly newsletters from my website, europealacarte.co.uk. for the last couple of years. I am finding them increasingly difficult to compose and they are only reaching a limited audience of subscribers. I am thinking of stopping the newsletters and concentrating on blogging. This is for three reasons. Firstly I think it will be more interesting for web visitors and clients to be able to make comments. Secondly I believe there is a much larger potential audience to be reached by a successful blog. Thirdly I think that blogging will be more fun for me, less formal and flat than writing a monthly newsletter.

Do you have any evidence that blogging has been of benefit to your small business?
